I love the collaboration that comes with creating something new. My first conversation with a client always seems like the beginning of an exciting voyage, whether the job be a bathroom or kitchen remodel, an entire gut renovation of a townhouse, or a new home. My job is to turn their dreams and wishes into reality, and hopefully take them somewhere even better than they had imagined, at a price they can afford.
To do this I listen to what each client wants, and in the process make suggestions based on structural and mechanical issues, city code, budgetary constraints, and of course design considerations. We work together to arrive at a design that meets all of their various needs, and then I develop this into a construction set that can be presented to the city for filing (if required), and to contractors for bid. This is where we invite more people into our collaborative team.
Once a contractor has been chosen, and permits pulled, construction is ready to begin. Now is the time to put our design to the real-world test. Inevitably there are conditions that arise that force us to alter the plans, and any required changes have to be carefully considered so as not to affect other aspects of the design. With attention to detail I, along with the client and the contractor navigate through the complicated construction process. The end result is always well worth it.
