Brooklyn Townhouse Renovation 2

    Brooklyn, NY

The new owners of a Brooklyn townhouse wished to modify the layout of their home to fit the needs of their growing family. By adding a structural beam down the back half of the house, we were able to remove a patchwork of rooms, creating a large, open living room looking out to the garden. We also opened up the front entrance area, converting it from a cramped, dead space to a welcoming launching pad to the rest of the home, with direct views of the rear garden. In an effort to reduce clutter in the living space, the owners desired a decompression chamber where all paraphernalia could be dropped before proceeding. The chamber includes a mudroom and closet, custom coat and shoe cubbies, and an office with a built-in desk and shelving. The design also includes a full bathroom, as well as a large laundry room.
