Co-op Renovation
Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY
My clients had recently bought a ground floor, three-bedroom apartment in a four-unit co-op. To improve the space for their growing family, they wished to renovate and enlarge the kitchen, opening it up to the living room, convert a half bath to a full bath, and most importantly build an interior stair to the cellar. This gave them easy access to their portion of that space, allowing them to add a half bath and a large laundry room, and create a home office to allow for work-from-home. Through the process we had to navigate difficult neighbors, strict DOB and zoning requirements, structural complexities, and electrical and gas constraints, but in the end the greatly improved living spaces were well worth the effort.
